Central Passage
In this video, Mount Vernon curator Adam Erby takes you inside the Central Passage, where guests were received by the enslaved butler Frank Lee. The Key to the Bastille that hangs in the Central Parlor was given to George Washington by the Marquis de Lafayette.

Front Parlor
The Washingtons received their most elite guests in the Mansion's Front Parlor. Learn why the Front Parlor was primarily Martha Washington's domain and why this room's furniture was revolutionary for the time.

Washington Bedchamber
See the bedroom in which George Washington passed away in 1799. Part of a private wing of the Mansion, this room was referred to as Mrs. Washington's chamber, as she managed the home from this area. View Martha Washington's original writing desk and her dressing table.

Mansion Bedchambers
Tour the bedchambers on the Mansion's second floor, which were almost constantly full with guests. In the Yellow Bedchamber, you'll see an etching in the window made by Martha Washington's granddaughter in 1792. You'll also enter the bedchamber where the Marquis de Lafayette stayed and see the shaving desk owned by George William Fairfax, the Washingtons' friend and neighbor.

Dining Room
The Washingtons took two meals in the Mansion dining room, breakfast at 7 a.m. and dinner at 3 p.m. In this video, Mount Vernon curator Adam Erby talks about 18th-century dining and gives us a look at the objects in the room, including a bottle case that George Washington purchased in 1759.

However, radicalisation or recruitment was less visible, or at least less observed until it became a policy priority to monitor violent extremists in prison in 2015. This chapter, which is part of a broader report, analyses the specific policies and tools that have been developed in Belgium to address the challenge of radicalisation in prison, and the rehabilitation of terrorist offenders after their release.
