El Liceo Franco-Mexicano forma parte de la red de establecimientos de la Agencia para la Enseñanza Francesa en el Extranjero (AEFE) el cual escolariza en 461 establecimientos repartidos en todo el planeta, aproximadamente a 272.900 alumnos.  http://www.aefe.fr

El LFM es administrado localmente, por la asociación «Liceo Franco-Mexicano A.C.», sin fines de lucro. Los objetivos del Liceo son:
  •  la escolarización de los franceses que viven en México.
  •  la escolarización de los mexicanos y otros residentes en México que desean una educación     bilingüe y bicultural, presente en todos los continentes.
  • la cooperación con el sistema educativo nacional.

La enseñanza impartida por la sección francesa está homologada por el Ministerio Francés de la Educación Nacional (MEN) desde la sección preescolar (3 años), (en los planteles Polanco, Coyoacán y Cuernavaca), hasta la secundaria (en el plantel de Cuernavaca la secundaria trabaja con tutores y con el CNED).
Los estudios realizados en la sección francesa del LFM en los planteles de Polanco y Coyoacán son revalidados por el sistema educativo mexicano, en cada etapa del curso, en el marco de los acuerdos culturales franco-mexicanos con enseñanza del español.

La sección mexicana del LFM aplica los programas de la Secretaría de Educación Pública (SEP) desde preescolar hasta la secundaria.


Por sus características, el Liceo Franco-Mexicano A. C. tiene el privilegio de recibir alumnos provenientes de una gran cantidad de países, en particular alumnos que estén siguiendo un programa académico francés a través de la red de liceos existentes en todo el planeta y avalados por la AEFE (Agencia para la Enseñanza Francesa en el Extranjero). La homogeneidad del nivel académico dentro de las escuelas avaladas por la AEFE permite la inserción automática de cualquier alumno egresado de un liceo homologado por la AEFE.



Los alumnos egresados del LFM pueden continuar sus estudios en Francia, México, o en cualquier otro país.
El  Liceo Franco-Mexicano tiene la misión primordial de brindar una educación francesa de excelencia, bajo los programas del Ministerio Francés de la Educación Nacional y de la Secretaría de Educación Pública, con el fin de formar mujeres y hombres responsables que contribuyan al desarrollo.
