Con los tendidos llenos recibieron los aficionados lusos a Juan José Padilla. Desde el paseillo, hasta que lo llevaron en hombros por la puerta grande, la gente quiso hacer de este espectáculo un recuerdo imborrable para el veterano matador. Padilla merece en absoluto todo eso, ya que su historia en el toreo es transversal a todos.
El querer, la voluntad indomable de sobreponerse a todas las dramáticas circunstancias por las que pasó, su honrada profesionalidad y sobretodo su carácter y su humanidad como persona, lo transformaran en un actor mundial. En breve colgará sus capotes y muleta en lo esportón de los recuerdos, siendo cierto que Campo Pequeño y la cuidad de Lisboa, tendrán un lugar especial en su corazón. [...]
