George Washington was the only founding father to commercially operate a distillery. It would become one of the country's largest distilleries, producing almost 11,000 gallons of whiskey in 1799.

George Washington’s Rye Whiskey® is the official state spirit of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Distilled spirits can be purchased in person at the Shops at Mount Vernon or at George Washington's Distillery.
