Manuel Escribano paseó el único trofeo de la tarde, que inauguraba la Feria de San Mateo, al quinto, tras una faena muy decidida, en la que se mostró muy seguro y sacó al toro todo lo que tenía dentro. Además, le remató de una estocada. Por su parte, Juan Bautista resultó herido mientras trasteaba al cuarto. No se miró el francés, que aguantó en el ruedo hasta que dobló su enemigo. Joselito Adame fue silenciado con el lote más deslucido de una complicada corrida de Victorino Martín, en la que destacó el encastado segundo.

El quinto fue un toro muy complicado en los primeros tercio, saliendo siempre suelto y embistiendo a oleadas. Sembró el pánico el astado, que en la muleta fue complicado y exigente. Manuel Escribano, que no banderilleó por la condición del animal, se fajó muy bien con el toro y le sacó todo lo que tenía dentro. Faena de mucho empuje y voluntad.
