The Egmont Institute and the European Security and Defence College (ESDC) are inviting submissions for the 4^th edition of the Global Strategy PhD Prize. Eligible are all doctoral dissertations drafted in one of the working languages of the Common Foreign and Security Policy (English and French), which address a policy-relevant topic related to the foreign, security and defence policy of the EU that falls within the remit of the EU Global Strategy, and which have been successfully defended between 1 July 2017 and 30 June 2018.
The winner will be awarded a certificate signed by the heads of the two organizing institutions and a cash prize of €1000. The selection...

The History of the Slave Memorial The Slave Memorial at Mount Vernon marks the site where both free and enslaved people were buried in the 18th and 19th centuries, without permanent identifying markers. Use Connectivity to Strengthen Multilateral Cooperation in the EU’s Neighbourhood By Sven Biscop (15 September 2020) In Commentaries Asia-Pacific , EU and strategic partners , EU strategy and foreign policy , European defence / NATO To strengthen multilateralism in their own neighbourhood, Germany and the EU should pursue connectivity strategies with their Eastern and Southern neighbours. These could create the links between the EU’s neighbours that previous partnership agreements have failed to establish. They should include political and security dimensions for states to feel connected to the EU in a political sense.
